Hogan established The Camberwell Press at Camberwell College of Arts in 1984 and was its Director until 1997. One if the first collegiate presses in England, it had a number of distinctive features. It used traditional skills of letterpress printing and wood engraving; it explored innovative printing processes, such as a reproduction technique for lithography at 490 lines to the inch; it provided a link between the College and the world outside and it was a teaching vehicle for students, including an annual student prize. Hogan created links with the book arts community in America, particularly Mills College in San Francisco, and, alongside the Press, established the first MA in Book Art in

the UK.
